Privacy Policy
In plain English: QuoteMyRenovation connects London homeowners with vetted renovation builders. To do that, we collect some information from you — this policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data. We are required to provide this information under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are
QuoteMyRenovation operates the website at www.quotemyrenovation.co.uk — a marketplace that connects London homeowners with vetted renovation and building specialists. We are the data controller for the personal data we process under this policy.
You can contact us about any data protection matter using the details in Section 13.
QuoteMyRenovation is not currently registered with the ICO as a data controller. If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office directly — see Section 13.
2. What personal data we collect
We collect different information depending on whether you are a homeowner requesting quotes or a builder applying to join our network.
Homeowners — when you submit a quote request
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your postcode and area
- Project type, size, specification, and approximate budget
- Any additional information you choose to provide in a free-text field
- Date and time of submission, and the page you submitted from
Builders — when you apply to join our network
- Company name, trading name, and company website
- Contact name, email address, and phone number
- Google Business Profile URL
- Services you offer and London zones you cover
- Years in business and public liability insurance details (level of cover)
- Portfolio URL and any notes you include in your application
All visitors — automatically collected data
- IP address (anonymised where possible)
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited, time on page, and referring URL
- Cookie identifiers (see Section 7)
We do not collect payment information — we do not charge homeowners, and builder subscriptions or payments (when introduced) will be handled by a third-party payment processor, not stored by us.

We will not use your data for purposes incompatible with those listed above without telling you first.
4. Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for every processing activity. We rely on the following:
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b)): Processing your quote request and matching you with builders is necessary to provide the service you requested. Processing a builder’s application is necessary to assess and fulfil that application.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): We rely on legitimate interests for platform analytics, fraud prevention, quality control of builder matching, and following up on incomplete submissions. Our legitimate interests do not override your rights — you can object to this processing at any time (see Section 8).
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): We may process data to comply with applicable UK law.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): Where we send you marketing communications (such as an email newsletter), we will ask for your explicit consent first. You can withdraw consent at any time.
6. How long we keep your data

After the relevant retention period, data is securely deleted or permanently anonymised.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights regarding your personal data. These rights are not absolute — they apply in most cases but may be limited by law.
Right of access
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (a Subject Access Request).
Right to rectification
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you.
Right to erasure
Ask us to delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to keep it.
Right to restrict processing
Ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances while a dispute is resolved.
Right to data portability
Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where processing is based on consent or contract.
Right to object
Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling. We must stop unless we can demonstrate compelling grounds.
Right to withdraw consent
Where we rely on consent (e.g. for marketing emails), you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
Right to complain
Lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@quotemyrenovation.co.uk. We will respond within one calendar month. We will not charge a fee for standard requests. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
9. International data transfers
We primarily store and process your data within the UK and European Economic Area (EEA).
Some of our third-party service providers (including Google Analytics) may process data on servers located outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) — to protect your data to the same standard as required under UK GDPR.
10. How we protect your data
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or disclosure. These include:
- HTTPS encryption on all pages of the website
- Access controls limiting who within QuoteMyRenovation can access personal data
- Using reputable service providers with their own security standards
- Regular review of data handling practices
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of a security vulnerability, please contact us at privacy@quotemyrenovation.co.uk.
In the event of a data breach likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and, where required, notify affected individuals without undue delay.
11. Children’s data
QuoteMyRenovation is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at privacy@quotemyrenovation.co.uk and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or data practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users by email or a notice on the website.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of QuoteMyRenovation after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
